Very enjoyable read that does indeed stand the test of time. Miss Marple is always a pleasure because her unassuming nature, curiosity, and intelligence make her an aggravation for the local law enforcement. There are regular references in the story to the silliness of women, in general, which leads to this aggravation when Miss Marple solves the crime. The vicar was also a pleasure in this story. He did not share the dismissive view of women and thoroughly believed that if anyone solved the crime, it would be Miss Marple. His was an enlightened view of women for a man in the 1930s.
