Plodding, stilted, and mostly pointless. The actors seemed to be genuinely suffering, struggling to make something out of their wooden lines. The directing fad of every two seconds jumping to a new scene doesn't serve to move the action forward, just chops it up. And that thread of plucked strings a la Downton Abbey, denoting tongue-in-cheek cuteness, just seems inappropriate in a hospital full of grievously wounded soldiers. Meanwhile, all the bad guys are white, while all the freed slaves are put-upon angels. One and a half episodes, and I had enough.
