Painful watch. Glad I didn't pay to see it.

GREAT 2000 David Mamet comedy film. Go Huskies!!!
Fun and interesting to see Mamet use his fabulous writing and dialogue talents in a humorous context in this film about, um, making a film. Has a yummy different flavor than excellent 1987 'House of Games', for instance.
The acting and film production were top notch notch. Interesting to see another brick/rock through a window. I seem to have seen that it a couple of different films lately - and now get that it's a metaphor for breaking through the film camera lens, perhaps into your brain - or something...
Fun little bits by other folks than main characters. I particularly enjoyed Patti Lupone in her bit at mayor's table near end.
The dialog is so well constructed with self-references and other literary quirks I might have to give another view in a while to see what I may have missed this first time through.

Although all the great actors acted well, I was disappointed and stopped watching the movie after an hour and a half. I didn't find it funny. I thought it was boring.

Funny, well written, entertaining.
a must if you like Philip Seymour Hoffman, or William H Macy.

"How do I do a film called 'The Old Mill' when I don't have an old mill?" "Well first you've got to change the title."
