Adorable picture book done by an artist with Disney experience. All of my family from 6-40 loved this sweet book.

This original story shows that even the prickliest of personalities can change and adapt to include others. The illustrations are fun, and you get a great sense of Hank's personality!

Such a cute little cactus, with a wonderful message! We can all do with a little hug from the right person!

An extremely cute picture book for kids with fun illustrations about a grumpy little cactus that doesn't want to be hugged. The little cactus's facial expressions are sure to delight young readers.

I was drawn to this book by the illustrations of the Southwest desert: the hues of pale sand, tumbleweed and sunsets. The cactus has so much personality (mostly prickly, of course), and it really shows as he interacts in turn with a tortoise, jackrabbit, coyote, cowboy, lizard, and owl. The ending is surprising and funny, but also endearing. Share this in storytimes about Feelings and Friendship, or pair it with other stories set in desert environments!

A good book that made me laugh. Reminds us that everyone needs a hug.

The cactus reminds me of a child. Cranky and doesn't want anything... until you tell them you weren't going to give it to them anyhow. Then the mind changes and effort is made. It's alright, but I wish there was more to grasp.

A cute book about a prickly cactus developing a new mindset at the suggestion of a hug. Ages 3-7

Hank the cranky cactus doesn't need anybody. He likes his alone time - that is, until he's told that nobody wants to hug a cactus. The illustrations really carry the story, conveying the beauty and emptiness of the desert.
