I didn’t particularly like this book as I found the siblings (and parents) were not very kind to their younger sister (daughter). True the siblings eventually became friends in the end but I didn’t like the unintentional modelling that it’s okay to call your brother/sister names and come up with stories to scare your younger siblings.

the six year old I read these books to had belly laughs while I was reading. When we finished the series she had me read them all one more time. Highly recommend.

My husband and I will stop what we're doing to hear the other one reading these books to our 4 and 5 year old; they are hilariously entertaining for all ages. I love the thoughtful imagination shared in these stories and Dory's way of using hers to to work things out. We can't wait for book number 5!

fun and funny story

This early chapter book was so funny! Dory’s older brother and sister keep telling her to stop acting like a baby. Dory has a very active imagination with her imaginary friend, Mary. One day to stop her from acting like a baby, her siblings tell her Mrs. Gobble Gracker will come and get her. To help her out one day Dory meets Mr. Nuggy her fairy godmother.

This book had my five-year-old daughter and I laughing out loud. At times it was hard to know what was Dory’s imagination and what was real. Such is the life of a six-year-old imaginative kid.

My five-year-old absolutely loved this series. Very imaginative and funny, the illustrations kept my two-year-old engaged as well. They still talk about Mrs. Gobblegracker and whenever they have a banana they immediately “call” Mr. Nugy.

Dory has a very active imagination which keeps her occupied when her older brother and sister think she is too much of a baby to play with them. Love her energy and her imaginary monster playmate (Mary). The Mr.s Gobble Gracker bit goes on a bit long, otherwise a delightful story and illustrations.

Dory is wonderfully boisterous and imaginative. Who doesn't enjoy the comfort of playing all day in their favorite pajamas!
