This movie was so unlike the book that it only had the title in common. Okay that is not all together true, but you get what I mean, or at least you had to have been there (which I highly recommend that you don't). This movie isn't even good as a stand alone movie regardless of the supposed connection to King. If you expect this to be a Dark Tower movie you are going to be disappointed. If you look to this to be a coming of age story, well, you are going to be disappointed on that front too. Leave it on the shelf.

Excellent! This is a film made for every teen boy who feels he has lost his power. Huge stars with great backing. very impressed with the shoot.

I thought this one was quite good for a smash and bash movie. Good win's over evil, but not before many good souls are lost. Much like this planet seem's to keep rolling on.

I'm not sure if anyone involved in producing this movie actually read the book. I enjoyed the many references to other King stories and Idris Elba as the Gunslinger but that was it. The movie was terrible and rushed. Don't waste your time.

I read the book series and they did what they could to condense the story into the movie. It made sense, .and,of course they need to do a TV series to really tell the story I liked the actors in this movie and hope they do a series someday. King uses the Crimson King in so many of his books that I have enjoyed. Hearts In Atlantis, for example. It would be great to see the full story done well in a series.

Did the producers read the books....no heart no soul. The absolute worst adaptation of any of Kings works...what a waste of acting talent

This was so disappointing. Being a lover of the Dark Tower series of books, I was appalled at this adaptation which bears little resemblance to the book. There is a guy named Roland, a guy named Walter, a kid called Jake and a "Dark Tower." That is where they are alike. And that is where it ends. It's an 8 book series and the tale is impossible to tell in two and a half hours, but I can't help but feel they could have done a better job.

Haven't read the book but it wasn't bad for a action, sci-fi. Characters weren't bad but maybe could have done a better casting for the "Man in Black". Found the story easy to follow and kept my attention.

Script does not remotely resemble books from the master writer King, harmless and dull except this repeated chant:

“I do not aim with my hand; he who aims with his hand has forgotten the face of his father. I aim with my eye.
I do not shoot with my hand; he who shoots with his hand has forgotten the face of his father. I shoot with my mind.
I do not kill with my gun; he who kills with his gun has forgotten the face of his father. I kill with my heart.”
