Hedda Gabler" by great Norwegian playwright Henrik Ibsen was first published in 1890. The play was first performed in Germany in 1891. One being asked, Henrik Ibsen said that his intention in giving Hedda Gabler name was to indicate that Hedda as a personality to be regarded rather as her father's daughter than her husband's wife.
