I did not complete this book. I found the early tone of the book sad and a bit depressing.

Kept my attention. Fantastic Walter Mitty type stories. If just one of them is true I have lived a pretty boring life.

As the author Homer Hickam reflects,..."it is a family legend which , through the art of story-telling, unveils the greatest truths of life, joy, heartbreak, recovery and love".
Quirky and interesting, and just plain fun, this is an entertaining and uplifting read. The perfect road trip for a spring break.

I LOVED this book - I laughed and cried and wondered and dreamed throughout it. The story of Homer and Elsie as told by their son years later was a fabulous story, so well suited to a film that I've practically bought my ticket already! The story is told in short, simply written vignettes interspersed by commentary from the author. Bigger than life yet all about the very things that make up a life - questions of love, purpose, worth, and your place in the world. Thank you HarperCollins for the e-galley of this book.
