With his eighth and most personal film, Alfonso Cuaron recreated the early 1970s Mexico City of his childhood, narrating a tumultuous period in the life of a middle-class family through the experiences of Cleo, the indigenous domestic worker who keeps the household running. Charged with the care of four small children abandoned by their father, Cleo tends to the family even as her own life is shaken by personal and political upheavals.

Very natural acting which, with a little patience, pulled me in. Having enjoyed many vacations in Mexico, I loved seeing the “old” Mexico.

Not up to expectations. I am a foreign film and indie movie fan, but after 40 minutes switched it off and sighed with relief. Not sure the point, it's just not up to par.

Well, this one was not for us which was disappointing because I had heard that it was good. We made it through about 5 or 6 minutes of water sloshing on a tile floor while the opening credits ran and we eventually made it past the part with the naked guy doing the martial arts routine but at that point, we decided we had seen enough--literally.

Cinematic beauty at its finest. A must-see. That is all that needs to be said.

This movie requires some patience... but it's worth it. Too bad more movies like this don't get made.

Very different from any movie I've seen before. I wasn't sure what to expect, but it really pulled me in. The sound editing is fantastic. Very heartbreaking in some parts. I haven't seen Green Book yet, but right now this would have been my pick for best picture.
