Really sweet, with a good pair of people with good hearts. Started out a bit slow, but moved along just fine. I don't find myself reading a lot of contemporary fiction (that's not categorized as "Urban") with Latino characters, so this was a great venture into that world. And it was nice that it wasn't what I've seen in the blurbs of more prominent ones -- rich white girl saved from herself by boy from the barrio. I'm torn between being glad this is a one off and wishing I could see more from these characters.

Interesting young adult novel, that discusses difficult social topics such as immigration, alcoholism, violence, illness, and death. If you enjoy contemporary-young adult-romance, this is a perfect book for you.
