From Jeanne Guillemin, one of the world's leading experts on anthrax and bioterrorism, the definitive account of the anthrax investigation

It was the most complex case in FBI history. In what became a seven-year investigation that began shortly after 9/11--with America reeling from the terror attacks of al Qaeda--virulent anthrax spores sent through the mail killed Bob Stevens, a Florida tabloid photo editor. His death and, days later, the discovery in New York and Washington, D.C. of letters filled with anthrax sent shock waves through the nation. Federal agencies were blindsided by the attacks, which eventually killed five people. Taken off guard, the FBI struggled to combine on-the-ground criminal investigation with progress in advanced bioforensic analyses of the letters' contents.

While the criminal eluded justice, disinformation swirled around the letters, erroneously linking them to Iraq's WMD threat and foreign bioterrorism. Without oversight, billions were lavished on biomedical defenses against anthrax and other exotic diseases. Worst of all, faith in federal justice faltered.

American Anthrax is a gripping tale of terror, intrigue, madness, and cover-up.

The author is a senior fellow in MIT's Security Studies Program (so guess who funds it? Ho hum....) Ivins did pass the polygraph test, while he was alive, and after his death (very likely it could be suicide as the FBI promised, and did, release every detail of his private life to the media, most embarrassing for any individual, especially one with Ivins obsessions - - assuming the FBI, in this one instance, is being truthful?????) - - they also gave their evidence to the National Academy of Sciences for verification, only to have it refuted and contradicted, stating there was no match to Bruce Ivins. The author does touch upon BioPort BUT NEVER MENTIONS WHO THE OWNERS ARE (owned by the El-Hibri family through offshore entities), but then mentions DynPort only in passing, completely oblivious to the fact that the El-Hibris are half-owners of DynPort and the other half-owner is private military contractor, DynCorp, which will shortly be purchased by Veritas Capital, but much later sold off to CSC, while the CEO of Veritas, Robert McKeon, will later commit "suicide" by strangling himself! (DynPort Vaccine Company was physically located right by Ft. Detrick and had the heavy-duty large ovens capable of weaponizing Anthrax.) For a cogent and pithy understanding, including President Obama's most curious and disturbing executive order on this subject, see Media Roots' "American Anthrax" online. ( MIT can certainly boast either some of the most ignorant faculty and other category members, or else they are professional propagandists. If Ivins wasn't guilty, why would he have committed suicide? Because he was a sensitive introverted scientist with neurotic obsessions with women who would be severely embarrassed by public disclosure, the way rape victims have committed suicide after public disclosure, et cetera, plus he may have had a psychological or genetic predisposition to suicide as it is thought that Bruce Ivins' mother committed suicide. As Richard Jewell testified once, when the FBI are hounding an innocent victim, they can really destroy their life.
