More than a movie about the devastation that a tsunami caused in a country that sustained over 118,000 casualties. It is a movie about volunteering. Four people with little money and no experience race off to help out in tsunami-ravaged Sri Lanka. They stumble into a tribal village that has been totally destroyed and begin the process with no idea where it will lead them. What was originally a two-week journey spirals into a year-long odyssey of hope, heartbreak, and setbacks.

A very-good documentary about the aid workers who just wanted to help! They were not with any charity! Just organized their own brand of helping, and did the very best they could! Some of them got burned out, as is common, but not much talked about! I was struck how realistic it was! The issues were real and not glossed over! It showed both sides of doing aid work, the good and not so good aspects of it! The criticism of the local native people, and their humanity with all the envy and jealousies of the human nature that is present in all the communities around the globe! The aid workers worked hard to cope with the criticism and try to deal with them. They were tempted to quit at times and just go home! Yet, they did achieve a lot and helped many! Some of them are still involved in doing the charity work at other places that had catastrophic events!
It was shocking to learn the magnitude of the money and the help that was promised, but never arrived! Make sure the money you donate does reach the people it was intended for!

Truly enlightening about how crooked charities can be and how much money/assistance actually reaches the people in need.

This is a documentary about 4 volunteers from different countries rushing to Sri Lanka after the country was hit by a Tsunami years back. These are kind-hearted individuals who just wanted to help a community before other help could arrive. They faced many problems and challenges. The film was shot by a hand-held camera so some images are grainy. An interesting one to spend time on if your are into global issues and humanity.
