This book is great for helping kids appreciate their heritage by discussing ethnic foods. Just like Cora is curious to learn how to make Pancit, a Filipino ethnic dish, elementary school children might be interested in learning how to make different foods from their own ethnic background. I love how the mom gives credit to Cora for making the pancit herself, which teaches kids that they can always learn something new even if they're at first afraid to try. The book even includes a glossary of Filipino terms and a recipe for how to make pancit.
