Remember, so that we don't forget what happens when hatred reigns.

I was humbled by this dvd. Young students who stood by their values of what is right knowing they'd be hurt. I was alarmed at the level of hate in the south. And I was disappointed that King declined their invitation to join them on the bus which would have eased their trials, given his influence.
It was these young kids, not the politicians who pave the way; both black and white.
A wonderful wonderful tribute to them.

This excellent documentary about the Freedom Ride of May 1961 reminds us that the 60's were not all about sex, drugs and rock'n'roll. My family didn't have TV at this time, so I had never seen these images before.

Unfortunately, this video used the N word far too many times for me to be able to use it for my literacy students-heartbreaking, because I would hazard a guess to say this is the penultimate video on the subject. The bravery of all the riders was immense-however, did not make clear why the bus was needed to make the government pay attention. Small but significant detail that would have helped get the point across. My homeschooled son, however, loved this video-it actually had him pretty engrossed in the story, and the questions afterwards! Well, that video took a whole day to work over, all time well spent.

How the world has changed in 50 years! It is really fascinating to see how the grassroots made this ride happen and the horrific price they had to pay. And also how ordinary people got the attention of the US president and Martin Luther King. Everyone should watch this. If you are over 50, you might remember hearing about it, and if you are under 50, this will be completely new and shocking.

I have known about the freedom riders for a long time, but really enjoyed the detailed and often first person accounts of this time in our history. I'd highly reccomend that you watch it.

A great documentary that EVERYONE should watch, especially todays youth who thinks it's OK to use the "N" word so frequently and losely. I actually gave it a 5star+ . . . More comments to come after I view this a second time.
