As cookbooks go, this one is pretty useless. There's NO PHOTOS or even drawings, so no idea what each item is supposed to look like. Also, the recipes are nothing special or unique to anything mentioned in Harry Potter. There's not even a butterbeer recipe- which I can find roughly 300 of on Pinterest. You'd be better off just getting a British cookbook with clearer instructions and some visuals!

The recipes were OK, but it said things like the British ate really bad things and sounded like they were trying to say that they were all fat!

Why would anyone ever (and especially when it involves the Harry Potter books) make a cookbook without any pictures at all? I was also disappointed that the recipes weren't more exciting and creative, although I did like the little facts about some of the traditional recipes.

Awesome book! It has great recipes and the instructions are easy to follow. For every recipe, there's a small paragraph referring it to the series. I made "Kreacher's French Onion Soup" and "Fried Tomatoes" and they turned out better than I expected. If there's one thing that I would like to change, it would be: take out "normal" recipes, such as shepherd's pie, crispy bacon, etc. and add in more "wizardy" recipes like Butterbeer, Bertie Bott's Every Flavour Beans, etc. After all, people borrow this book to learn recipes from Harry Potter, not stuff you can find in normal cookbooks.

Excellent book filled with a lot of fun ideas for Harry Potter Fans. I can't attest to how the recipes turned out though beause I did not get the opportunity to prepare any.

Fun little cookbook - but the recipes are a bit oversimplified for my tastes, but this book would be perfect for the 9-13 age range, or beginner cooks.

I made "Kreacher's French Onion" soup and it was pretty terrible. So be careful about that one.

Since many of the recipes are traditional English recipes, I recommend cross-referencing this book with the recipes in an established cookbook such as Joy of Cooking.

(to the people who have already read what's inside this book)
does this cookbook provide the ingredients and everything like a real cookbook and are the stuff hard to cook??? just want to make sure before placing a hold! :D

Disappointed! I was expecting unsual edible treats to make. Not traditional recipes. I thought this book would at least have butterbeer as one of the recipes but it doesn't. And they only have like 7 recipes from the movie.

This cookbook cleverly provides recipes and tidbits about most food and drinks found in the Harry Potter series. While some recipes are complex, others are good for the beginner and those with limited ingredients. I would recommend this to any Harry Potter fan, cook or not, as it really brings Hogwarts to life!
