Comment
Add a CommentTo most people Celia and Oliver Navel are dedicated couch potatoes. But Celia totally disagrees with that assessment. She says they are "audiovisual enthusiasts". It sounds better. They really do love TV. If they could just live in front of the TV they would be so very happy. But that is not their fate. Unfortunately for these two audiovisual enthusiasts they live with their daredevil, globetrotting, explorer parents in a place called The Explorer's Club. Bummer.
These two intrepid adventure avoiders are pulled into a worldwide adventure in search of their missing mother. With every step things get worse and worse. Then they get downright terrifying. The deal is that they and their father will find their mother, Shangri-La and the Lost Library of Alexandria. If they do these little things they win a bet their father made and they will get cable TV (aaahhhh cable...). If they lose their father loses his job and Celia and Oliver become slave labor (on school vacations only of course) to the most irritating man in the world. It sounds dangerous. It sounds crazy. It sounds impossible. But...anything for cable!
This is an adventure with seriously reluctant adventurers, talking mystical yaks, bat attacks, tiger attacks, Yeti attacks, Monk attacks and they fall from everything (planes, rope bridges, and waterfalls to name a few.). It's absurd! But it's also funny, page turning, mind bending and a marvelous adventure story. Happily author Alexander London is going to keep the action going in this new series called Accidental Adventures. We Are Not Eaten by Yaks is just the first book.
I can't wait to read "We Dine with Cannibals!" I'm not getting it from the library though, I'm buying it from Indigo.
This book is sooo good that when I read it I couldn't stop at chapter endings. Once you finish reading this I recommend We Dine with Cannibals. That book was even more exciting than this one.
This is a good book.
I like it
