The main character lacks detail and personality. I found the book to be slow and uninteresting.

This was an interesting read. I am now 22, and this definitely reminded me of how I felt when I was 15. That being said, the ending was left open, and i do not appreciate that. I also wish the book had gone more into detail of her mental health issues; however it is a good start to the topic of teen suicide.

I'm in love with this book<3 I can't stop thinking bout Santana and Daelyn, even after I read it twice. I forgot to return it and it's been 2 days, so I'm so sorry for the person who is waiting. highly recommended!!!
It's just my type of book, that relates to my life and has some kind cute love story. The ending was little disappointing. It was my independent reading for my English and it's great book for suicide topic.

The book, By the Time You Read This, I’ll Be Dead is a mature read that deals with teen depression, suicide and family trust.

Daelyn is a struggling teen who wants to be left alone in the world. She has attempted suicide many times, but has failed, and is determined to get this final time right. With countless days of planning behind her, Daelyn finds a website that not only helps her find other people who are depressed, but also supports her choice to commit suicide. Daelyn is given 23 days to plan her perfect suicide. In these 23 days, a boy begins to sit with her after school, when she clearly wants to be left alone. After many silent afternoons with this mystery boy, Daelyn begins to contemplate her choice of suicide. The book follows the ups and downs of these 23 days, and how one person can have a huge impact on another struggling peer.

This book was very well written, and gives readers a look into the life of struggling teen. The book is written from Daelyn’s perspective which allows the reader to feel the strong emotions that she goes through every day. The title was a little bit misleading. It lead me to believe that the whole book would be a letter to her loved ones, or the book took place after she had died, which it doesn’t. I recommend this book to mature readers aged 14 and older, and to anyone who struggles with depression or wants to know more about the life of a suicidal teen.

Does anyone else wonders what happens to Daelyn? I think personally she decides to live even though she was so set on dying. Her throwing away all of her things, is her throwing away her old self. Like her mom suggested, I think she is going to get all new stuff because she's changed so much and she's a whole new Daelyn.

This is an extremely powerful book. It definitely makes you think.

It does contain serious subject matter (the main character is trying to commit and has failed at suicide), as well as language, some sexual material, and bullying.

However, I'd still recommend this book. Definitely NOT for younger kids, but older middle scholl and up should be able to handle it.

This book was awesome. It was sad and I loved it I couldn't put it down. I loved the storyline with daelyn and Santana and I'm just so disappointed that it ended like that! I knew she was going to go with it but I just hate that it ended like because I want to know what happened with them two ! I totally recommend this book to everyone. I give it 5 stars.

I liked it alot... it could have been perfect but the whole "create your own ending" thing really let me down... still a 5 star book though...
