If you like Jason Schwartzman and Zach Galifianakis and are okay with drug use, sex and language in your TV shows, you will probably enjoy Bored to Death. Ted Danson is excellent also, but the series may not appeal to his typical fans. The show gains momentum as the three actors' characters begin teaming up to solve cases and generally make a mess of things. I think season two is the best, followed by one and then three.

Very funny! Kind of strange, but hilarious. Between the 3 main characters, you never know what's going to happen next. Watched seasons 1-3. Don't think there's any more. If there is, SPL doesn't have it.

Bored to Death & Pulp Fiction have something in common. What? Well hear me out. Everyone who has seen Pulp Fiction remembers Jules & Vincent talking about the McDonald’s in Europe. “Le Big Mac.” “Hash.” And “The Royale with Cheese.” All of this while en route to a drug money shakedown. Well, Jason Schwartzman plays a novelist, Jonathan Ames, who becomes bored after his girlfriend leaves him. So bored, in fact, he places an ad on Craigslist for unlicensed private detective work. During his cases the unrelated conversations are quirky & funny. Schwartzman has great chemistry with both of his co-stars Danson & Galifianakis. Subtle humor. Smart. Fun.

Well we can't let a certain comment (see below) speak for all the Jews, now can we? I love this show and I love Jonathan Ames, real and fictional. This show is creative, quirky, endearing and FUNNY. Ted Danson is revelation. PS: I love Wes Anderson too. Moonrise Kingdom is the best fim of 2012.

Despite an excellent cast and good guest appearances the first season of Bored to Death is very disappointing. One will be bored to death expecting either genuine drama or comedy.

This is a strange, funny little show. I found myself entertained throughout and marvelling at how interesting and quirky the plots and dialogue were. The characters are great. Sort of plays like a Wes Anderson movie. Definitely not for everyone, but a nice change of pace from your average vanilla comedic series.

i'm loving this show, and not just because jason schwartzman is a hottie. the writing is clever, the actors are hilarious, and the soundtrack is awesome! i even like ted danson in it, and i usually can't stand ted danson. schwartzman plays jonathan ames, a struggling novelist who decides to moonlight as an unlicensed private detective after his girlfriend dumps him. zack galifianakis is cartoonist ray, jonathan's best friend and sometime partner in crime(solving). ted danson plays george christopher, the rich, bored magazine editor for whom jonathan freelances. definitely worth checking out, especially for fans of quirky, visually appealing films/tv shows a la wes anderson.
