Sofi gives her strict parents the slip and heads to Tijuana for a party with friends. On her way back, she discovers that her green card is a fake and she is stuck in Mexico with her father’s family (whom she’s never met) while her parents try to sort things out on their end. Her adjustment is slow and bumpy, but she learns to love her father’s family and experiences their life. A heartwarming story—and thought-provoking as well: this sort of thing happens to real people, and they aren’t as lucky as Sofi.
