Add a QuoteSir Alexander Dane, to Jason Nesmith: "I see you managed to get your shirt off!"
Fred Kwan (after blowing two of Sarris' goons out of the airlock, and saving the crew): "Sorry, that was -- door was a little sticky. Did you see that? I'll get one of my boys up here with a can of WD-40."
Quellek (shot, dying): "...It has been my greatest honor to serve with you. I have been blessed, sir. I... I... I..." Sir Alexander Dane: "Don't speak, Quellek." Quellek: "...You'll forgive my impertinence, sir, but even though we have never before met, I always considered you -- as a father to me." Sir Alexander Dane: "Quellek... by Grabthar's hammer... by the Suns of Warvan... you shall be... avenged." (Quellek smiles, dies. Dane, enraged, runs at one of Sarris' goons)

Add a CommentThis is an all time favorite in our household!!! We are those annoying people who quote every line from this film. A true love letter to the original Star Trek series, plenty of Trek lore made it's way into this film. Plus a top-notch cast, Sigourney Weaver playing against her Ripley type, Alan Rickman speaking Spock's heart ("I see you managed to get your shirt off again!") Pre-Monk Tony Shaloub playing with Scotty's role. Tim Allen does a great job at channeling William Shatner and of course you cannot forget Sam Rockwell as Guy ("what's my last name?!?!") who never puts in a bad performance. If you love Sci-Fi you will love this film.
Side note: I am very happy you young people are watching this classic film; now go back and watch all things Trek to complete your education!! :)
enjoyable, funny
I use love of this film as my litmus test to determine if whether or not I can be friends with someone.
This movie works on many levels. On the surface, Galaxy Quest is a light comedy about the cast of a beloved but cancelled science fiction TV show who are brought together to appear at a convention. They’re not happy about how their careers faltered after the show, and they grouse at each other over ancient grudges. And then they’re grabbed up by a race of kindly but not terribly bright aliens who have mistaken the characters for real heroes who can save them from a vicious enemy, and the grumpy actors are asked to perform real heroics. That’s amusing enough, but Galaxy Quest also includes lots of small jokes based on the lore and behind-the-scenes history of the original Star Trek series, making the movie even more fun for fans of that show. But on top of that, Galaxy Quest does not skimp on the special effects, and despite being a silly spoof, looks and feels like a big-budget science fiction feature. The marvelous cast includes Tim Allen, Sigourney Weaver, Tony Shaloub, Sam Rockwell, and the dearly missed Alan Rickman.
Silly! Enjoy!
I liked this Comedy Science Fiction DVD. It is done with real people. The story in the script is purposely weak. The acting was well done; but, none of the characters are deep. It is a shallow comedy not even trying to be realistic. It is a spoof about Star Trek. I found it funny; but, not hilarious. It is not too violent or sexual for kids. It will have some scary moments for young kids.
The special effects are top of the line for the 90s and the alien costumes are well designed but a bit corny so it makes it hard to suspend your disbelief. If you've never seen this some of the Star Trek spoofs will leave you rolling in laughter.
But this is not a campy comedy; much of the drama takes on a serious tone involving death and some scarry toture scenes.
It's a delightful surprise who actually saves the day in the end; shhhh -no Spoilers allowed.
Pity they didn't spoof the next generation, successive diminishing returns franchises, autocratic producer & "dip too many times into the well" corporation.
I enjoyed this movie very much!
rip alan rickman.
