Programmers will want to read this book. It was the first and is still the best Javascript reference book. This 6th edition is updated to cover HTML5. The 4th edition is also useful, and has a shorter queue of holds. 1000 pages.

"JavaScript, the definitive guide" picks up where "Web Design in A Nutshell" By Jennifer Niederst Robbins leaves off -- nicely. While some might say "Web Design" is now "dated" I'd retort by calling "Web Design" foundamental foundation building in an ecosystem that seems at the end 2013 open to new thinking. Both are O'Reilly publications.

One of the best JavaScript books out there.

O'Reilly books are meant for programmers. They are also some of the best books in the industry. Rating a book a two because you don't understand it is ridiculous.
